Tasmanian Writers’ Prize 2027
Entries close February 15, 2027
The Tasmanian Writers’ Prize is now in its 18th year.
Open to citizens of Australia or New Zealand or Australian permanent residents.
The prize is for short stories up to 3,000 words having an island, or island-resonant, theme.
The winning entry receives a cash prize of $500, and all finalists’ stories will appear in the Forty South Short Story Anthology 2027.
This year Forty South Publishing is collaborating with TasWriters, an organisation dedicated to supporting, connecting, and advocating for Tasmania’s aspiring, emerging, and established storytellers. Our three judges, Meahd Farnaby, Judith Ridge and Leigh Swinbourne are all current TasWriters board members who give their time voluntarily to the writing community.
