FAWQ Readers and Writers Festival 2021

Moreton Bay 18 June to 4 July 2021.

The Fellowship of Australian Writers Queensland (FAWQ) in partnership with USC and Moreton Bay Regional Council Libraries, will be holding the inaugural FAWQ Readers and Writers Festival, Moreton Bay, from 18th June to 4th July 2021.

The theme of the Festival is: ‘Stories Creating Connection.’ Workshops, Seminars, Panel Discussions and Performances suitable for all ages and levels of experience will be held in Moreton Bay Library venues from Friday 18th June to Thursday 1st July, with USC Moreton Bay the venue for the weekend from Friday 2nd July to Sunday 4th July, 2021.

The FAWQ began in 1921 as the Queensland Authors and Artists Association (QAAA). The objects of the QAAA included the fostering of literature, art, music and drama and the Foundation President was Professor J.J. Stable from University of Queensland with artists Edward Colclough and E. Ashton Murphy as Secretary and Treasurer. The poet Mabel Forrest and A.H. Davis (Steele Rudd) served as Vice-Presidents. Steele Rudd was instrumental afterwards in the formation of the Fellowship of Australian Writers (FAW) in Sydney in 1928. The QAAA became the Queensland Branch of the National Fellowship of Australian Writers before adopting the current name in 1958.
