LITERARY LUNCH AND WORKSHOP

WORKSHOP PRESENTER: Dr Lisa Murray.

City Historian and writer, Dr Lisa Murray, will introduce you to some of the key resources for Sydney city held in the city council archives. From maps and photographs to businesses, letters of complaint and staff job descriptions, there is a vast array of material available to give your writing verisimilitude and zing. You will discover how to effectively search the archives catalogue and key sets of records that document the city’s social and business life. This workshop will be of interest to both the fiction and non-fiction writer.

Dr Lisa Murray is the City Historian, overseeing a diverse program at the City of Sydney Council encompassing community, civic and urban history. Lisa is the award winning author of planning histories and a regular contributor to debates around public history. Her forthcoming book on the history of Sydney’s cemeteries
to be published by NewSouth and will hit bookstores in December 2016.

SWW BOOK AWARDS: The remainder of the October meeting will be dedicated to the Announcement of the SWW Book Awards.

The Society of Women Writers NSW welcomes newcomers to our monthly Literary Luncheon on the second Wednesday of each month.
