Celebrate Christmas on December 9 at the SWW Luncheon where entertainer Liz Taylor will regale with her stories from her incredible life and career; a Multi-Award winning Singer, Entertainer, Actor and Producer to a Civil Celebrant for Marriages and Funerals.

Join us to listen to our fabulous women writers carrying on the SWW tradition.

Dr Maria Hill PhD will present a workshop: Writing about the Past: Guidelines on what you ‘do’ and ‘don’t do’.

Dr Maria Hill is a professional historian with a PhD in History. She has written award winning history books and teaching kits for schools.

In this workshop Maria will share the methods historians use when ‘Writing about the Past’ to help writers of historical fiction and non-fiction avoid the usual pitfalls. She will offer some guidelines on what you ‘do’ and ‘don’t do’ when writing ‘true stories’ or fictional accounts based on a ‘true story’. Bring along some of your writing that you would be happy to discuss and share with the group.

Guest Speaker, Susanne Gervay presents Room to Read: World Change Starts with Educated Children.

Room to Read is celebrating the incredible milestone of impacting 10 million children across Africa and Asia through education. With an affirmative action for girls’ education, reaching the poorest of children, building libraries, introducing literacy programmes, Room to Read works against poverty and for peace.

Susanne is proud to be a Writer Ambassador for Room to Read and share the achievements and how Australia supports literacy in the developing world.

Awarded the Lifetime Social Justice Literature Award for her body of work by the International Literacy Association, Susanne Gervay OAM is recognised for her youth literature and writing on social justice.

Presentation of the Abbie Clancy Awards by Professor Elizabeth Webby.

 

The Society of Women Writers NSW Inc. welcomes newcomers to our monthly Literary Luncheon on the second Wednesday of each month.

Venue:
Dixson room, State Library of NSW.

Time:
10am-11.50am Workshop. 12.00 noon to 2.30pm Literary lunch with guest speaker and member talks.

Cost:
Workshop $30.00 for members or $35 non-members.
Literary Lunch $70.00 members or $75.00 non-members.

Bookings are required by 10am on the Monday before the meeting. Please book by email if you have access to a computer.
