The Department of English at the University of Sydney invites women poets to submit their collection of poems to Australia’s richest poetry prize, the Helen Anne Bell Poetry Bequest Award. The winning manuscript will be published by Vagabond Press.
This year the award offers an increased prize of $40,000 for an unpublished collection of poems between 50 to 80 pages. The work should broadly deal with Australian culture in some way; otherwise, there are no restrictions on the subject matter.
The award is judged by three distinguished Australian women poets. The judges for the 2021 award are Associate Professor Kate Lilley, Pam Brown and Melinda Bufton, last year’s winner.
