Rosita The Gypsy Girl
BEATRICE YELL

In Victorian England, a young girl, Rosita, runs away with Richard, the squire’s son, cutting contact with her gipsy family. Richard is called home urgently, and loses touch with Rosita after she is evicted from their lodgings by the landlady.
Rosita has his baby and brings her to Richard’s family home. She leaves her on the doorstep then hides, watching for the door to open. Richard’s mother takes her in and has her christened Arabella after her own mother.
Subsequently, in London, Rosita encounters Richard in Hyde Park. He is overjoyed to see her as he had been searching for her, unaware of her pregnancy.
“This tenderly told story of an abandoned baby is imbued with the author’s deep knowledge of the living conditions, cultural differences and class barriers of Victorian England.” Helen Lyne, Author
