Conditions of Entry: Seniors Card Short Story Competition 2025

The NSW Dept of Communities and Justice and FAW are conducting a Short Story Competition. The Top 100 stories will be published in Seniors Stories Volume 11 and Seniors Card Membership, the competition entry and Workshops are FREE.

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

  1. The theme for this year is ‘Then and Now’.
  2. Story length max. 1,000 words (Poetry not accepted) [excess word count will be disqualified, however the title is exempt.]
  3. DO NOT use the theme as the TITLE of your Story – doing so will cause disqualification.
  4. Multiple entries may be submitted but only one will be published. None will be accepted outside the stated competition dates as the link will close.
  5. The judge’s decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
  6. Entry form available on this website from 20th April, 9.00am and the entry can be attached. Closes 1st June 6.00pm.
  7. Entries to be in digital form. (Help for non-computer users available on 0413 285 431 leave your name and contact number).
  8. Entries must be a Word document, not a PDF or Jpeg. Formats other than word will be disqualified.
  9. Entries sent in a format other than Word cannot be accepted.
  10. Entries should be typed in 12pt font, double spaced.
  11. AUTHOR NAME SHOULD ONLY APPEAR ON THE ENTRY FORM – NOT THE STORY.

WORKSHOPS

Workshops will be held at Erina March 3, Cobar March 4, Campbelltown March 7, Hornsby March 10, Mudgee March 11, Murwillumbah March 26, Liverpool April 8 and Sydney City April 17, for Seniors new to writing who would like to participate in the competition. Workshop details.
