Brian Haydon
A large collection (227 poems, 325 pages) of original poems by a member of FAW Southern Highlands. Greg Tome wrote “Whatever the topic or the style, Haydon’s poetry is marked by an energy, a verve, an originality that the reader can’t help being struck by.” Mostly whimsical rhyming couplets, the poems include playful but serious contemplations and observations, in many forms, even a Haibun on haibun. The author advises in an opening senryu “Choc’lates in a box/should be savoured one a day/the same with poems.” Indeed, this book provides many days of enjoyment for those who can resist browsing. The book is available as a paperback ($20), or Kindle e-book ($5) from Amazon.com.au. A recently published hard cover version is now on sale at Amazon.com for USD20, but as it is printed in USA, it incurs a significant shipping cost.
