Entries have closed for the Hilarie Lindsay 2020 competition

Entries for the FAW NSW Hilarie Lindsay poetry competition for School Students closed at midnight, Monday 31st August 2020. 

Thank you to all those students who submitted their poems for this competition, and thank you to their teachers, parents and guardians for facilitating the entry process. 

Shortlisting and judging are now under way. 

The four sections were as follows: 

  • Section 1: Years 10, 11 and 12. Max. 60 lines. Prize $125 
  • Section 2: Years 7, 8 and 9. Max. 40 lines. Prize $90 
  • Section 3: Years 5 and 6. Max. 40 lines. Prize $65 
  • Section 4: Year 4 and under. Max. 20 lines. Prize $50

Announcement of the winners in each section and presentation of the prizes normally occurs at the annual FAW Awards Lunch in November (except for Section 4, Year 4 and under), however that event has been CANCELLED for this year due to COVID-19 restrictions on large gatherings. This year, winners will have their prize cheque sent to the school, along with a certificate, for presentation to the winning student by their teacher or school principal. 

Unsuccessful entrants will be notified in due course.
