The 2018 ABR Elizabeth Jolley Short Story Prize

Australian Book Review welcomes entries in the 2018 ABR Elizabeth Jolley Short Story Prize for an original short story. Entry is open to anyone in the world who is writing in English.

Prizemoney is worth a total of $12,500…

  • First Prize: $7,000
  • Second Prize: $2,000
  • Third Prize: $1,000
  • Three commended entries will share the remaining $2,500.

Entries must be a single-authored short story of between 2,000 and 5,000 words, written in English. Stories must not have been previously published or be on offer to other prizes or publications for the duration of the Jolley Prize.

Entry Fee:

  • AU$15 for current ABR subscribers and full-time students; or
  • AU$25 for non-subscribers.
